Hello blog world! lol

I haven't written since November!! Well I'm so consumed with knitting who has time to write! Not to mention nothing fabulous has really been going on with my hair. I wanted to write in though since my 3 yr mark is approaching. So here's a quick synopsis of what's been going on with me. Knitting, knitting, & more knitting, LOL, didn't I say I was obsessed? Yep I am obsessed with the needles. I've been making tons of items. All of my friends received knitted gifts for Christmas & I've also sold several items. I also did another 30 day detox this year in March & got down to my lowest weight in over 20 yrs!! I feel great & my skin & body loves me for it! Now I'm fighting to keep the weight off, the fat girl inside is fighting to get back out. LOL

I wish I could post all of the pics of things I've been knitting, I take photos of it all to keep a photo journal of all my projects. Here are a few things & one shot of me going to the Eric Benet & Kem concert from this past weekend. Lawd I hope I still have readers!!! LOL
Have a great summer because I probably won't write again anytime soon. LOL, you know, busy knitting but you can always catch me on facebook!!!

I guess as you can see I haven't had much to say about my hair. LOL Of course I'm loving it but as of right now it needs to be colored & I'll probably do that before thanksgiving. Oh lord how I hate my gray halo!! LOL My loc's are 27 months old now & they are doing their own thing.

As of late I have been a knitting fanatic working on two projects at a time. I take an easy project to work with me to work on in down time & I work on a more difficult project at home where I'm not being disturbed. I just finished a beautiful poncho for myself. I have yet to seam up a shrug I made for my sister-in-law, hopefully I'll get that done by the end of the week. And now I have two more projects going. A baby sweater for my friends g-baby which is due to arrive any day now & a cowl which I'll probably give as a Christmas gift to a friend. And I'm constantly looking at different patterns of things I want to make so I think this qualifies me as addicted!!!

I'm also a self proclaimed Zumba addict! I teach two classes a week & attend three other classes that my bestie teaches as well. And if all goes well I'll be teaching an additional two classes a week for a six week stint. Maybe if I work on my eating w/all of this zumba I can be a size 10 one day! LOL Who am I fooling I've never been a size ten in life!! I'm healthy though & that's all that matters.

OMG I can't believe this time has come this quickly!!! I can recall vividly scouring through many blogs admiring those who have started this journey before me. Having some serious loc envy, which I still do by the way, and wondering if my loc's will look like theirs. I can recall the day I went in to start my loc's. I went in with 6 inches of natural hair so I just knew I would not have the stringy chicken looking loc's! Boy was I wrong, I'm thin in the top front portion so that was really evident for the first three months. I was all prepared to be my loctician's poster child, I was her first client for microloc's, so I was anticipating great things right out of the gate. Crazy because I knew from looking at other blogs that my loc's were not going to look mature but I had high hopes because I had a healthy head of natural hair. Well I don't think I lost the chicken head look until around month 3 & it's been all gravy from there!

I got a new color for my two year lociversary it's called RED HOT!!! I love the new color & I may keep it for awhile.

I've enjoyed watching my hair evolve into what it has become in two years & I'm sure the next year will be even more thrilling!

Oh wait I have to tell y'all this: So last night I'm at church for a rehearsal & one of the older ladies looked at my hair & says........I don't like your hair like that! me: REALLY? Why? now mind you her hair is unkempt & standing on top of her head!!! Then she tells me she doesn't know why she doesn't like it & proceeds to ask me would her hair look good like mines. I told her well you wouldn't have to worry about a comb ever again (not that I think she did anyway)LOL!
So then I decided to change the subject & ask her about baking or something off the wall so she'd get off my hair!

Hi all just to clarify for some new readers. I do not have sisterlocks. I had someone post a comment on an old post about the grid/parts in my hair. I've never said that I've had sisterlocks, even if you read my profile you would see that I don't have them but guess what my loc's are the bomb!!! LOL

My loc's are 22 months old now & I have some friends who do have sisterlocks that have loc envy over my locks. I plan on doing a photoshoot for my 2 year anniversary so stay tuned!!!This is just a pic of me doing my favorite thing ZUMBA! We were doing a demonstration for Juneteenth day this past Saturday.

A New Hobby

OK I have to tell you guys this. I have a new hobby......knitting!!!! LOL I'm getting teased something terrible right now about it too. I have to tell you how this started.

I was surfing the web one day & ran across this website http://bohemiansoul.com/ & fell in love with her work. She crochets all types of cute things you have to check her out. Sooooo because some of her things were a little expensive, & now I understand why, I decided hey why not learn how to do this myself. Well I ended up learning to knit instead of crochet. I do plan on learning how to crochet a bit later though after I get this knitting thing mastered. I also should add that yes I have purchased several things from her & I love them all, I just figured hey I could learn a craft.

I am hooked you guys, I'm always online looking for easy patterns & there are so many out there that are free too! I've finished my first project a neck warmer, I'll post the pics of that. Well for some reason I can't post the pics of the neck warmer. I'm currently working on a baby sweater for my four month old little cousin. I'm making a size 18mo because I didn't know how long it would take me to make it but it's coming along pretty quickly. I'll post pics of my progress of that as well. Heck I just may start a knitting blog!!! The last side of the front of the sweater is what's on the needle now. I started knitting this sweater on Mother's Day. So I'm almost two weeks in & I thought it would take me a lot longer to get this done. If I would have known I would have made it a size smaller & he would be able to wear it sooner. But I guess if he keeps growing at the rate he's going he'll be in it soon enough.

Stay tuned for more knitting projects I love this stuff. I can't wait to get more experienced where I can make things with more detail.

Hey Blog Fam!!

I've been away for awhile, just busy, busy, busy!!!! I'm officially what I call a ZumbaHead(lol)! If you're not familiar with Zumba check it out here. I'm so hooked that I am going for my certification this saturday in Chicago. I have my own class lined up on Tues & Thurs & I also attend my best friends classes, she's also an instructor. I attend her classes two to three times a week depending on my work schedule along with also attending bootcamp/kickboxing classes twice a week. So sometimes I'm working out two hours a day & I love it! I'm also participating in a biggest loser challenge in the workplace which has been interesting. I go up & down on the scale from week to week, which I don't understand because I'm working out so much.

I went to DisneyWorld two weeks ago for a week. Who would have thought going to DisneyWorld without children could be so much fun? I took tons of pics, we went to SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios.

A quick hair update. I LOVE MY LOC'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! My hair is fully loc'd now front to back, no more curly q's. I miss my curly q's though. I love how my hair blows in the wind. I love my length, it's almost shoulder length now I find myself pulling my hair out of my collar now. I'm not sure how long I really want it to get though before I cut it. I had an opportunity to sing backup for a good friend of mine who is looking to get into the music industry. We sang at a pretty prominent benefit in Chicago last weekend. They had a profound speaker by the name of Simon Bailey if you've never heard of him I encourage you to google him. He has written several books. He's an awesome speaker & he's inspired me to find my genius that's hidden inside. Wish me look with that because I tend to start things that I have a natural knack for but never follow it to completion where it would benefit me. Any who here's a few shots from that benefit. You will see that I colored my hair again it turned out great it seems to be a deeper red, which I like, & less copper.

I just wanted to add a couple of more pics of my hair. I don't know what the heck we were thinking about taking pictures by a lit tree. LOL The shots are a little blurry but you can see somewhat how my hair was styled. It was basket weaved in the back, flat twisted on one side & down on the other. I also had braided & rolled my hair previously so it had crinkle & curl .

First off I'd like to shout out Queen Toshia from On the Road to Queendom. She hosted a giveaway a week or so ago & I was the winner!! This is my first time winning anything so of course I was excited. I won a play palette from Sephora. It came right on Christmas eve so it was a nice extra gift.

My hair is 16 months old now. I have some bunching issues & ton's of growth that everyone seems to be able to see but me. I really can't see it, I guess maybe because I look at my hair everyday. I colored my hair mid October but the gray has come back out. I won't color for at least two to three more months. I don't want to overdo it with the color.

Here's a pic of me with my play palette & one with my hair in an updo. I attended a nice reception last night & had my hair pinned up. That's my best friend in the pic with me she's currently sporting a twa.

I was hoping to have more to speak on since I haven't posted in a while but I really don't.

What I've been up to

Wow time sure does fly. I haven't posted in a month. I'm sorry but I am now addicted to face book but that's no excuse to ignore my blog, especially when I have new followers.

Well for the past month I've seen many changes with my hair. It has ton's of body now & I can feel it on my neck so it's grown quite a bit. I have some bunching going on in the middle of a few locs. I've colored again but this time I didn't braid & band. I used the same brand that I used in my first post about hair dye. I've been using this stuff since 2005 so why change now right? Well this time the color took better & my hair had no significant changes. It's not dry or anything so I suppose it's all good. I don't have any picture's yet so stay tuned for those haven't really gone anywhere to dress up so no photo op's. LOL

I attended a natural hair & health expo in Chicago. My loctician had a booth there so I drove down to support her. She ended up standing in as a model for the hair show. She was so nervous she made herself sick but she looked gorgeous all made up. Shout out to Janela!!! You did great. I'll post some pics from that but they're a little dark. They had a lot of talented ppl participating in the expo. There were poets, musicians, rapper's, singers, you name it they were there. One particular young lady captured my attention more than anyone, she played the harp & the music she played was absolutely beautiful. There was also one particular young lady that was a poet she was out of site I will try & post her video.

I took a 30 day journey on a juice fast. What do I mean by that you may ask? I fasted on fresh juices made with fruits & veggies juiced by me. I made some good one's & I've definitely made some bad ones. I decided to take this journey for spiritual reason's as well as health reasons. I've been on high blood pressure meds for over 10 years & I feel it's time to get off. I have a Dr appt. the Tues before thanksgiving so wish me luck there. I lost 22 lbs on this 30 day journey now I'm eating as close to raw as possible for a week or two. Who knows what I'll do after that although I have given thought to going back on Dr. Ian's 4 Day Diet until I go to the Dr. I'll keep you all updated about that. My Dr. told me at my last Dr. visit that he wanted me under 200 lbs & I've reached that goal. I had a goal of 199 for my Dr. visit but I've passed that up. I hope to surpass it by at least 6 to 8 lbs by my appt. Wish me luck!

Chris Rock Reviewing his movie Good Hair on Oprah

OK first let me say Chris Rock is hilarious! Now from watching the show I see that they are not really dwelling on the fact of black women having their hair natural, but the obsession of black women having their hair done period be it braids, permed or weave. He's quite comical when he describes how black women don't want you putting your hands in their hair because they really have a weave but don't want you to know it. I guess some of us women have really programmed our men to not touch our hair. Now I know why my husband doesn't touch my hair, which I wish he really would. It must be from a previous girlfriend because I've never worn weave. And really people are putting their weave on layaway? Come on we have really been hoodwinked.

The hair industry is 9 billion dollars mostly spent on weave. How can we put even a portion of that money back in the black community & use it for good?

I like that the Oprah show is also touching on white women & their hair obsessions as well. I'm not quite sure if it's a movie I will spend money to go see yet but I will watch when it comes out on video.

One thing I did notice at the beginning of the show is that his two daughters are indeed natural.

Solange said it best that she wanted to be free from the bondage & fill liberated!!! I can't believe she said she was spending $40,000 to $50,000 a year on her hair! Geez.

OK Chris is back on my good side he said however you decide to wear your hair is "good hair". And he is not an advocate for children having perms in their hair & he thinks that kiddie perms should be taken off of the shelves.

Ladies weigh in let me know if you had an opportunity to watch Oprah today & what your thoughts are on the movie. Would you spend money to go see it?

13 Months

Last friday I was on my way out with my girlfriends to free salsa lesson's & while checking myself out in the mirror, I noticed I was looking rather cute so I attempted to capture my cuteness in a photo. I'm not always photogenic & I know usually you exude how you're feeling in your photo's so I thought this was a good opportunity to capture a good moment. LOL

I'm not so sure I captured what I was feeling because I think I was looking much cuter when I was looking at myself in the mirror.

Any who here are my loc's at 13 months. They are so dense and full now. I love them. They are getting to a point where I can actually pull them up in a ponytail when I workout. I love how I can feel them moving and swaying when I walk. That's new. LOL I love the way they feel in my hands, they feel like high quality cotton. So soft I can't keep my hands out of them. I think I'm having a love affair with my hair. Something some of our sister's have yet to achieve.

I was just talking to one of my girlfriends on the phone & she mentioned how her hair was so nappy & she needed a perm. She mentioned that she was so frustrated with her hair that she doesn't know what to do with it. So I asked her, I said now I'm gonna ask you a question & you have to answer honestly. She said ok. So I asked her do you really know your hair texture? I said you've had perms forever & you perm at the first sight of a kink or wave. So how can you say that your hair is nappy? She said you know you're right I don't really know. I failed to mention that she was complaining about how she sweats her hair out & when it gets humid out or rains her hair napp's up. I just laughed at her & said I don't have any of those issues. So she goes on to say I don't think I could wear my hair like that because it's too nappy. I told her the nappier the prettier your loc's will be. I hope she thinks about it & considers going natural be it loose or loc'd. I just want to persuade at least one sister friend or even stranger that natural is the way to go.

It's funny that a lot of us out here when we do decide to go natural we don't have a clue about what to do with our hair, which I find odd by the way with so much info out her in cyberspace.

Happy Birthday daddy! I know you are throwing your own birthday party in heaven with the best in attendance, Jesus Christ.

I just wanted to post in honor of my dad today. Many who know me know that I was the ultimate DADDY'S GIRL!!! When I was 6 years old my mom passed away & my parents were divorced. Some of my family members thought they were gonna take on the responsiblity of taking care of me because my dad had gotten sick a few months after my mom passed. He lost his kidney's due to pneumonia from a trucking accident.
My dad said NO!! That's my girl & I'm gonna raise her. It even got to the point that someone in my family asked me who I wanted to live with. Well I guess you all know the answer to that. So yes my dad raised me on his own & eventually remarried. I grew up in a loving home with my dad & step-mom. You talking about spoiled that was me!

Here are a few things that I miss most about my dad.

My dad was the human encyclopaedia to me. I could ask him anything & he could give me the answer. And guess what he would be right! LOL

I miss my dad sending me text messages telling me what he cooked for the day & what time it would be ready. Or letting me know that Ludie(my dog) was looking for me. Some of the family was amazed that he used texting on his phone & he let them know that as soon as he could upgrade his phone he wanted one with a qwerty keyboard. LOL

My dad was the ultimate man's man. He could fix anything. I mean as simple as screwing back a missing screw to rewiring an entire house. Are there any men out here like that today? Oh and he was the best cook & baker in the world. He could lay out the fanciest spread to the simplest but he did it all with flair. And his cakes oh my goodness they were so moist & the buttercreme frosting would just melt in your mouth.

I've made it ya'll!!!!! One year, man how time flies. I can remember like yesterday when I cut the perm out of my hair & was left with 2 inches of kinks, just enough to back comb twist. I remember trying product after product until I found what was right for me. I remember how my hair seemed to grow like a weed with no chemical & how other's seemed to be amazed but not willing to take the natural road I was on. It looks good on you they would say, it's just not for me. They felt that there was no versatility with natural hair. Man how wrong were they? I guess if you don't research you won't know. So fast forward 3 years, I decided to take the plunge. I locked it up ya'll. I looked & searched, read & researched, & searched some more, until finally I said yes. I was in love with loc's. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Many things have happened within this one year time frame, not just with my hair but in life. I lost my best friend, my dad. My daughter graduated high school, I celebrated 5 years of marriage and just yesterday my daughter boarded a plane to California to go to school. I've experienced many different emotions in this year, some good & some bad, but what I can say is I'm still here, a stronger woman than I was a year ago.

In this one year's time I remember when I first got my hair loc'd people would just look upside my head & say what is that in your hair? I've even had one person, who was not a friend of mine, say ooh I don't like your hair &I have to admit at that time my hair was not cute at all. Just like most experience I had the plucked chicken look. But I dealt with it. And as the months went on they'd ask do you have tiny braids in your hair? Now they say I like your hair it's really pretty & it sure has grown!! Now every time I turn around I'm passing out my loctician's business card. So for those of you who may be reading & contemplating getting loc'd up you need to know that this is a transition & if you can't handle negativity from people & you're not patient loc's may not be for you. But if you have lots of patience & you could give a rat's you know what about what people say about you I say go for it!! It's the best thing I could have ever done the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner.

Here's a montage of pictures of my journey of one year & someone just recently sent me a picture that I was in when I was a loose natural so enjoy.

This first picture is me in '07 with my loose naps, bottom left. I know it's only two of us in the pic so that wasn't hard to figure. LOL The second pic is the second day of install. We didn't even bother to style it I was too tired!!

Month 8. I noticed that I didn't take any pics in my 9th month, I guess I was too busy with prom stuff.

1 YEAR!!!! These aren't the best pics. I wanted to have someone take them for me but as stated earlier my baby's gone & she usually takes my pics for me when I need someone to do it. I'm anxious to see what the next year will bring!

Today is my birthday & I feel blessed that the Lord has allowed me to see 44 years. So I'm sharing my birthday with my blogger friends! I plan on celebrating in high style later on today. Unfortunately I have to work today that's why you see the uniform shirt in the picture.

I thought I'd share a photo this morning since I was feeling especially chipper this morning and my Ludie Bell was feeling photogenic as well! LOL

How Time Does Fly

I can't believe how month's 9 & 10 blew by & I didn't even post about my hair! LOL
So I figured I should post something about what I've noticed about my hair in these last two months.

The first thing I can say I noticed in the last two month's is growth & density. My hair seems to have taken on a life of its own. My hair seems buoyant or should I say spongy feeling. It's hard to describe it, it seems springy, bouncy if you pull on it, it just sort of bounces back to where it was. Also my hair seems to have grown quite a bit in these last two months. I haven't been able to wear my hair in a ponytail without it looking a bit juvenile. Now I can pull it up & have hang time! I know most of the ladies call it a pineapple, well I'm well on my way to having a pineapple. LOL

The thin area in the top is almost non-existent. Meaning I can conceal it without much effort now where before I would spend quite a bit of time maneuvering my loc's over that spot so you couldn't see it.

I'm still braiding & banding. I was given the okay to not do it anymore but for some reason when my loctician told me it was okay I decided to try conditioning my hair as well. My loctician didn't give me the okay to do that I did it on my own & my ends loosened up a lot! Of course when I went in for my re tightening session she fussed at me & told me I need to braid & band again to see if my ends will go back on their own. I'm hoping they will, otherwise I'll be in her chair for hours repairing the loc's with the really loose ends. She tells me it's a long process so I'm praying my ends will begin to seal up on their own. I did this like three month's ago & those ends are still pretty loose. Most of my ends are still curly though as I'm not fully loc'd yet. The loc's in the back seem to be loc'ing quicker than the rest of my hair.

I am also receiving more comments & compliments from people now. They're asking what do I have, twists or braids which of course i have neither so hence the opportunity to tell them about loc's comes into play. I live in an area where loc's really aren't popular with the ladies. There are a lot of men in this area that have loc's though. If you do see women here with them they are mostly the traditional loc's. I have to say I've only seen a handful of women in this area that have either sister lock's or micro loc's. This area is popular for the weaves & lace front wigs. I must say though that when I go to Milwaukee I've been seeing more natural heads lately, which is cool. I wish a lot more of our sister's could see the stress that they're putting on their crowns using perms & gluing hair on top of their hair(the famous quick weave).

Overall I'm totally pleased with my hair. I wish I would have loc'd sooner, when I first started looking at all of the pretty sister locked ladies on the web two years ago. I can only imagine how my hair would look now if I had loc'd sooner.

This first year has thus far been a blast watching the changes in my hair & how other's have also watched the changes as well. I told my loctician Janela that before she knows it she'll be pulling her loc's out because she won't be able to keep up with all of the people coming through her shop. Who knows maybe I'll take the class & become a certified loc consultant & join her in business to help her out! I wanted to post a picture sorry this isn't the best one. I haven't been feeling very photogenic. LOL

My baby graduated from high school this past Sunday! Why am I excited you ask? Well my daughter had a rocky high school career & for a moment things seemed a bit grim. She got it together though & made it!

I had to beg to differ because Jerome showed up at my daughter's prom driving a limo! So Carmen here's my sighting of Jerome. You let me know what you think. For you other ladies who stop by my blog on occasion if you're not familiar with who Jerome is he's the character Martin Lawrence sometimes played on his show "Martin"Now I have to tell ya'll how country this dude was. He pulls up by the school, he's talking on his cell phone & he doesn't even get out to let the kids out of the car! Once the kids are out, he heard the crowd calling out to him, which is because everybody saw those country old school finger waves in his hair & his gold teeth & somebody starts shouting Jerome's in the house! So he steps out of the limo & begins posing for the camera's! Can ya'll see his teeth they were gold too! LOL

My Baby On Her Way to Prom!

She knew what she wanted in terms of her dress, her makeup & her hair, and I helped her with the rest but overall this look is what she wanted! I Colored my loc's!

I did it you guys! I couldn't take the gray halo anymore. So since I was scheduled for a retight I called my loctician & let her know what I wanted to do. Of course she instructed me to braid & band my hair. I used the Loreal for Dark Hair it's the same color I've been using since I've been coloring my own hair.

I braided my hair in smaller sections than usual because I wanted to make sure the color got through the braids thoroughly. It seems like it took forever to get it all braided up, excuse the picture's I know I'm not looking the cutest just wanted to show the process as I went along, sort of like an editorial (that is if blogger will let me add the pics the way I want to show them). Then I got my gloves, color, color enhancer, towel and shower cap out & got busy. I got all of the color in my hair. I thought I got it in there pretty good but when I took my hair down the next day I could see in the back that it didn't get through in an entire section in the back. It got on the ends really good though. So here are the results. I realize that it didn't get all the way through in the back I was really more concerned about getting rid of the halo in the front which I was successful at getting rid of yaay! So ladies let me know what you think!

As you all can tell from previous posts I am all about helping my loctician promote her jewelry through my blog. She is the most talented person I know. She's always creating something be it mixing shea butter for hair & body products, making beautiful jewelry or creating beautiful loc's for the newbies. She's successful in her own right locally but I know if we put forth effort she can be successful on the web! So we were trying to see how we can get more people to shop at her etsy site. I told her about the other loc'd ladies who are also promoting their jewelry or hair accessories by having a giveaway on their blogs. Well we decided why not try it ourselves and see what type of response we can get from the readers.

So here's the deal we have two items to giveaway I will post the items at the bottom of this post. First we're giving away a beautiful Tif Stik with a brown cowry shell & a black bead hand painted with green & bronze hues. Also we're giving away a hair tie with matching earrings. I'm 8 months loc'd today! I've been too busy to really sit down & blog about it. I just wanted to recognize my 8th month milestone today.

New Furniture Update

Two days after my first post about the chair my salesman returned my call. I told him what my concerns were about the chair & that overall I was not happy with it. He informs me that he would have to contact the manufacturer of the chair & see what they would like to do. Well first off I didn't buy the chair from the manufacturer I bought it from him, so I tell him I'm a little concerned because of this. If I gave You my money why are we talking to the manufacturer? He goes on to explain to me that different furniture manufacturer's rent space on their floor, yada, yada, yada. He is by the way being very nice about it but I didn't care, I don't want this chair & what are you gonna do about it? I didn't get jazzy with him though, I told myself to be nice because I want my money back or another chair! So I accept what he says & he let's me know that he'll be back in touch by Monday.

Well he kept his word & called back yesterday evening. He told me we can return the chair & we can get another one for equal or lesser value. I'm happy about that but there's one negative. I have to pay a restocking fee of $125.00

We went back to the store that Friday with the chair. I failed to mention that we had to travel about 45 minutes to pick up the chair to avoid paying their $85 delivery fee. Back to what I was saying, we went back to the store & did not see anything in the store that we wanted to take home. So we ended up doing another special order chair. This time though the salesman did some measuring of a chair that we tried out that would be big enough but the style was all wrong. So he compared those measurements to the chair that we saw in the book that we liked. So now we're waiting another month to get this chair that we'll have to travel another 45 minutes to pick up. Hopefully this time we got it right.

The lesson I've learned in this though is that I will not be doing any more special ordering of furniture. To much of a hassle.

New Furniture

I'm a little perturbed right now. Here's why. I purchased furniture late Feb. I bought a two piece sectional w/a large ottoman and a chair. Well we got the sectional & ottoman right away but I had to order the chair, which by the way was not part of the sectional. Well the chair came this past wednesday & I don't like it. Why? Well, 1. It's smaller than what I expected. 2. It has a drawer on the bottom of it that I had no clue about. 3. When you sit on the chair the drawer pops open.
I don't know what I'm going to do, I tried calling my salesman when I got home & he was on his day off. Well let me tell you this store has an all sales final & no refund policy! I spent over $800 on this chair! I'm hoping the salesman, who by the way is the store owner's son, will work with me. Do an exchange or something.

This my good friend Undrah, really he's like my brother. I've been intending to do an interview with him since he got his loc's, but never really got around to doing the interview I did get a few pics of his loc's though. He's been loc'd since mid January & these pic's were taken in February. Talk about putting things off. Well I figured since we never got around to doing the interview to put on the blog I figured hey just post the pics. So here he is in his first month loc'd.

Undrah started his loc's with back comb twists and has to go in biweekly to have his new growth twisted. And yes he loves his loc's!

Who knows maybe somewhere down the road we'll get around to his interview. LOL

Quick Attempt

This is just a quick attempt at a style that I tried last weekend. We were going out with some friends & I was wearing my hair freestyle. Well we were going to an upscale restaurant & I wanted to do something nice to my hair. What I did was pull the back up in the middle & pinned it . Then I took the sides in the back & crossed them over the middle like a basket weave. Then I rolled the top with my steam rollers. It came out really nice. I don't think the pictures really did the style any justice though.

Sad news! I had an appointment with my loctician saturday, and sadly she told me I have to go back to the banding & braiding routine. ;-( Well let me just tell you what I did. This was my second time washing without banding & braiding, and in my mind I figured I would condition my hair. I said to myself, self, just try it, you're going to get retightened today anyway. Well I shouldn't have done it. My loctician took one look at my hair & said "What is going on with your hair?" My ends got really loose & curly they looked like shirly temple curls. She thinks that she may have to restitch my ends. We're going to wait a couple of weeks & see what my hair does. I just pray that we won't have to do that.
Some good things did come out of my visit though, I left out with a really cute style done by her new braider/stylist Tiffany and I bought some new pieces as well!

The orange set with the copper is a hair tie with matching earrings, a ponytail holder, and her newest creation a Tif Stick! You know those sticks that people stick in their updo's? Well Janela has created her own. It came from an idea of her new braider/stylist Tiffany. These new items should be uploaded on etsy soon so check there often to get yours!

Wow time sure does bring about change! I had no idea how different my hair looks now compared to when it was first done. I thought just more of the same was going on, but as you can see I have ton's of growth, thickness & density. I love my hair!
Today was the first time I washed my hair without braiding & banding. Boy did I feel liberated! I washed with the Oyin Grand Poo Bar & oiled my scalp with a six oil mixture from my loctician and let it air dry. I was a little apprehensive at first but it went well, as far as I can see there's no slippage at all. Of course I got permission beforehand. Now I'm anxious to color & condition but I'm going to wait until closer to my birthday.

I am starting to experiment more with pinning my hair up, I know it'll be a while before I will be able to wear my hair in the famous pineapple, but I'm looking forward to it. I decided to try & see if I could pull it up into a ponytail & voila! I did it, see! I know it's a bit small but I thought it was cute enough to workout in. LOL

I am looking forward to celebrating being loc'd for one year. Heck, I may even have a party! I LOVE MY HAIR! I think I better start planning now because time is really flying by, but first I have to get my daughter's graduation/birthday party planned out first. Man I can't believe my only baby is graduating high school & will be leaving me soon to go to college. She's planning on going out to Cali to attend school. I won't cry yet, I'll be strong. LOL

While uploading new pieces on etsy tonight I noticed that my pictures were not clear. I need to change the settings on my camera to make the pictures smaller because when I load them up on etsy they won't load because they're too large. So I had to edit the photo's and make them smaller. This time I think I made them too small, hence, the blurry pictures. So if you stop by the etsy shop please excuse the latest photo's. I'm not changing them because it's too much work! Just bare with me I promise I'll do better next time.

A LudieBell Update

As you can see Ludie is quite comfortable here at home! LOL

We're all doing pretty good with him here NOW. The husband walked around the house with a scowl on his face for about a week but he's stopped now. I've vowed to bathe Ludie often. To tell you just how much, he's only been here three weeks & he's been to the groomer once & has had two bath's since he's been here. I still don't think that's enough for the husband but he's not getting any more than that. I think it's overkill personally, but I have to do it to keep him happy. I just hope I'm not harming my baby.

That's my other baby in the picture. My only daughter who's graduating from high school in June.

The store is back open just keep in mind that we're still adding items. Unfortunately all of the pictures that I took today were all too large so I had to upload them all on photobucket & resize them. I am not that saavy in this area so it's taking a little time. I'm going to bribe my 17 yr old to finish it up for me. LOL Here are a few more pics for your sampling of my items & the loc oil that my loctician made.

6 Months

I'm 6 months locked today! Boy does time fly when you don't have to do anything to your hair but enjoy it! What is a comb? Well I don't know or care anymore. I haven't been doing anything special to my hair so I figured I would try to do some type of pin-up. Well I only got as far as pinning the top but I thought it was sort of cute. I don't have much talent when it comes to styling my own hair.Right now it's crinkly & curly. I braided & banded it to wash, towel dried my hair, took the bands out, oiled my scalp, then rolled the ends with soft spikes. I left them in until the next day to make sure it was dry & Walla(sp?) LOL

I'm still learning how to use my camera thus you see the difference in how the pics are turning out. My daughter turned the flash off for me that's why the back photo looks different. It's actually the best picture in the bunch. I would have taken more but decided not to. I suppose as I continue to post my pictures will get better, so just bare with these for now. ;-)

I ordered a new shampoo bar from Oyin & it arrived today. They've changed their packaging. It used to come in a nice reusable plastic container now it comes wrapped in saran with paper on top. I assume this is more cost effective for them so I guess that means I'll have to save the container from my other bar!

I really love this shampoo, I've been using it for three years. It takes a bit to get lathered up but I like how it makes my hair feel squeaky clean when I'm all done washing. Although they've changed their packaging I'll continue to use it.

I can't wait until I can continue using their other products. They're all in my bathroom just waiting for me to pull them out. I love their conditioner (Honey Hemp Conditioner) it has such a nice smell to it. I know I have a bit longer before I can condition though.

Here's a sneak peak of what you can look forward to seeing in the etsy shop. These are a couple of pieces that I made.

I am by no means a professional but they did come out nice. It wasn't hard to figure out how to make them once I purchased one. The only challenge I have now is finding nice pieces to make the hair ties with. I wish I were talented enough to make my own but by no means am I that artistic. The shop should be opening within the next two to three weeks so stay tuned!

5 1/2 Months

I promised an update on my hair so here it is. What I notice about my hair now is that it's more dense. My ends are very curly now, there are some balls on the ends but none of them are closed yet. Here are a few pics before I was retightened last week Thursday.

I washed my hair two days before with Oyin's Uber Poo Bar.Of course I did the dreaded braid & band routine. After washing I towel dried my hair then I used an oil that was mixed by my loctician. It has 6 oils in it, what they are I don't know, I only know it has tea tree oil in it to help with the itch. Then I took the bands out and rolled the ends of the braids on Soft Spikes. I got a really nice look after it dried. It was really nice & full, but after she tightened it I lost some of the body but it still looked nice. Here are some pics from today. My hair is pinned in the top. I can't use a hair tie yet, which by the way I have learned how to make.

Right now I am this close to coloring my hair! I can't stand this doggone halo I have in the front of my head. I know, I know I'm getting older but no one else has to know! Angel Loc's did her's and she let me know just how she did it, so I am seriously contemplating it. I'm trying my darndest to hold out but it's hard. It's been almost six months with no color and I'm a coloring sister let me tell you! The first sign of gray when I was a loose natural & I had the dye bottle & the gloves out. Armed & ready to fight the gray. Hopefully I can wait til it get's closer to my birthday I'll be 11 months locked then.

Guess Who's Coming Home?

My dear little Shih Tzu! I guess you're saying so what, so I'll explain the story. My little pooch who I affectionately call "Ludie Bell" hasn't lived with me in over four years. When I got married the husband didn't want my baby to come live with us so my dad took him in. After my dad passed my cousin kept him for me until I got my dad's affairs taken care of. I told the husband that I needed my pooch because he's the last thing that my dad & I shared. He's not happy about it but he'll get over it because Ludie's coming home!

Those of you who aren't dog lovers probably don't understand but he's my baby & I can't wait to pick him up. I've had a dog every since I was a young girl. My dad bought me a poodle after my mom passed away when I was just six years old & he lived for sixteen years! A couple of years later my dad bought another poodle named Nuggets & he lived about 15 years. During the time we had Nuggets I bought Ludie Bell for my daughter, she was six or seven at the time. Ludie is now ten I know we only have a short time left with him so my husband will just have to deal with him being home. I promised the husband that I'll take extra care to keep Ludie clean & fresh smelling & I promised to not let him mess up the yard. LOL

Just a quick word on the locs. I promise an update is coming soon! I'm 5 1/2 months locked now. I can tell that they are thickening up quite nicely & it's even more easy to hide my thin area in the crown of my head. I've taken pics so they will soon follow.

On Wednesday January 14, 2009 I had to say goodbye to my best friend, my father. My dad was my everything, my superhero. He was the epitome of "Mr. Fix-it"! Dad could fix anything as minor as changing oil in a car to rewiring an entire house! In his profession he was a chef. He made the best cakes on earth & his ribs were off the chain! I wish I would have paid more attention in the kitchen while he was in there working his magic. My dad had a love for entertaining people. He wouldn't let you come to his home & not have something good to eat and drink with some good jazz playing in the background.

Writing this today is therapy for me, you have no idea the pain I feel right now. I would talk to my dad everyday even if it was only a five minute conversation to make sure he was ok. I know I will get through this with God's help but it's just really tough right now. I am an only child and he was my only surviving parent. My mom passed away when I was just six years old. My dad took on the task of being both mom & dad. I don't know many men who are willing to take on that task.

I am glad that I am the woman I am because that's who my dad taught me to be.

I thank God for letting me have my dad for 43 years and for letting my dad die with dignity. He didn't have to stay here and suffer. He would have never liked it if someone would have had to take care of him.

My message to you is to cherish your parents. If you don't get along with your parents find it in your heart to bury whatever it is keeping you from being close to them. Cherish every moment that you have with them because you never know when you'll have to say goodbye to them for the last time.

Money Scams

I'd like to wish everyone a very happy new year. Tonight I was going to write about resolutions because we all have them at the beginning of the year but as I was opening and reading my email tonight I received an email about inheriting 2 million dollars. This is not the first email of this sort that I've received. It's like the 4th or 5th one. Usually I just delete them but this time I decided to open it & read it. It's really sad that some people really fall for this or either they are just desperate for money & go for it in hopes that they won't get caught. Well I knew just from reading the title of the email that it was a scam. Secondly, this is supposedly a woman in London who is "Christian" and doesn't want to leave her money to her family because they are not & she wants someone to use the money for good. Well, I don't know anybody in London. Then it goes on to say she doesn't speak much because she's ill so to correspond by email only. Ok I just fell off the turnip truck I guess because why would you want to give somebody, a stranger, 2 million dollars & not talk to them or meet them to make sure they would do something positive with this money. And if it's legit why not just give it to a charity then if your family are such heathens?
Has anyone else received such nonsense? These don't even show up in the spam they are coming through into my regular mail. I received one before this & it said I had money coming from a rich relative who died in a plane crash! Ok I don't have any rich relatives & don't you think if someone in my family died on a plane that I would have known about it?
Ok I'm done ranting now. I just wanted to share the nonsense that I've been reading.

4 Months @ Christmas

I am four months loc'd as of yesterday & today! Sorry I don't have any pics of my four month old hair. I was hoping to have taken pics with family yesterday but to no avail. They didn't stick around long enough to take any! Sadly we had a tragedy in our family over the holiday. My cousin passed away on Monday from a heart attack. She had traveled to Dallas to see her daughter & her family & she had a heart attack as they were unpacking the car. She didn't even get a chance to see any of them. So most of the family had just gotten off the road yesterday & were too tired & probably too sad to stick around, so by the time I had gotten off of work they were already gone.

I got a new Cool Pix camera for Christmas so I should have some pics up soon from the camera hopefully you'll see more hair details & the pics will be a lot better than the pics I take with my phone.

I promised that I would show you the pic of my personalized hair tie so here it is. My hair in this picture is pretty close to the four month mark. Winter Wonderland

Today I woke up to 12 inches of snow on the ground. Our street hadn't been plowed so I didn't get to work until 10 am. Work begins for me at 7am. And the funny thing about it was I was the only one that didn't make it to work on time so everybody there had something funny to say. Like you just took advantage of the situation. No I didn't I don't have a SUV or Jeep I drive a Grand Prix with low profile tires! I knew with the snow being as deep as it was that once I got out of the driveway I would be stuck. So I didn't care what they said I knew I wasn't gonna take any chances. LOL

Life and Death

To celebrate life and death in the same week can be bittersweet.

I had the pleasure of meeting a set of fraternal twins born into life last week and at the same time had to say goodbye to a friend after a short battle with cancer. Why is it bittersweet? There are two little people who I will have a chance to see grow up and become something special and I get to celebrate the life of a woman who I know lived for the Lord and her two boys.

Christine will be missed but I know that she is resting in the arms of Jesus. She was funny, humorous and she didn't take no mess from nobody! She was an advocate for adoption & she took her sons in & loved them with every part of her being. Christine fought a great fight she stayed strong until the very end. She will be missed by many.

Ava if you get a chance to see this blog I want you to raise those two babies to become someone great.

You will never guess. My computer didn't go out it was unplugged!!!!!! LMAO
The funny thing about it is I checked the wall to see if it was still plugged in. It was plugged into the wall but had come loose at the connection between the two cords! I feel like such an idiot.

An update on the hair. I got retightened today. I waited 6 weeks & I don't believe I will go that long again. She had a hard time with my new growth it was all snarled up so she spent alot of time separating my hair. Usually it only takes her two hours to retighten me but today it took three & a half hours!

My laptop died last night! I mean it just died. While I was on it, it just went black. It was still powered on but I couldn't get it to come back up. I turned it off & tried to power it back up but it wouldn't come back on. I don't know what I'm going to do! Is my blogging career over? LOL
I'm blogging from work now but I'm very limited to what I can add on my blog from here. Hopefully I can get it to power back up or get it fixed without it costing more than what I paid for it.

Shrinkage & Headbands

As you know my loctician is creative and talented. I went in to see her Monday and today to get things updated on the etsy site. When I got there she had created headbands/ponytail holders out of clay. She shaped the clay drew the design & hand painted them can you say beautiful! Oh these items are gorgeous. Here's one here that I have in my hair. It will be featured on Etsy with earrings to go with. I wanted you all to be the first to see it http://sheabrojaes.etsy.com/. I wish I had enough hair to wear this as a ponytail holder I think it would be really pretty adorning a large thick ponytail ful of locs but I have too much shrinkage and my hair hasn't grown out enough.

Janela my loctician told me today that my hair is STILL shrinking! When I got my loc's in
August they were to my neckline near my shoulders, my hair is now at the ear & she tells me it may shrink more. See comparison's here. The first pic is the first day I got my hair loc'd and the 2nd pic is during month 3.

Also let me tell you I still have curls in my hair since last post. If you haven't read the previous post I rolled my hair with Soft Spikes and Oyin Shine & Define. I haven't done anything special to it to keep the curls from falling out. I pull my hair back at night & put on my sleeping cap which normally falls off at night.
I have to say that this is the best move I've made getting loc's. Yes there's maintenance but what hairstyle doesn't. No matter what type of hair you have you're going to have to do something to it to maintain it.

Let me be the 1millionth person to say I LOVE MY LOC'S!!!!!

3 Months Loc'd

It's been a minute since I've posted so here we go. My hair has been locked 3 months today . My hair is doing great things by the way. I have lots of balls and matting on the ends of my hair. I also have major shrinkage now I can't even put it up in a ponytail anymore. I had my second retightening about two weeks ago. Currently I'm washing my hair with Oyin's Grand Poo Bar which I really like and I give myself a hot oil treatment after washing. When I do the hot oil treatment I take a swab and oil my scalp in the parts then I heat a damp towel as hot as I can stand it & wrap it around my head. I leave the towel on until it cools. This seems to help a bit with the dry scalp.

Here are some pics of my hair at three months. I thought about doing comparison shots from the beginning but I figured I'll wait. My hair in these shots was rolled damp with softspike curlers and Oyin Shine & Define.

As you can see on the last picture that my top is still a little on the thin side but not nearly as bad as when it was first done. I am really happy with how my hair is transitioning through the phases. I can't say that my hair is always cute but it's getting there!

I know I look tired that's because I was! It was two in the morning. I was going into work at 3 am for overtime. I thought my hair looked cute though. LOL

9 1/2 Weeks

9 1/2 Weeks and freshly tightened! I've been told by my loctician Janela that my hair is coming along fine. It's doing what it's supposed to do. It's budding now & I have a considerable amount of shrinkage. I've had no slippage thus far in this journey. My top is still rather thin but I know with time you won't be able to see it anymore. It's getting a little easier to camouflage that area. It's really sad that it took me so long to realize why I was thin in that area. For years when I was getting perms I heard my beautician say you're getting thin in the top. First I thought it was my pregnancy that was causing the thinning, but continued to get perms. Not only that but my beautician continued to give me perms. I have to wonder did she know it was from the perms & continued to give them to me or didn't she. I know most beauticians are supposed to be keeping their clients hair healthy but are they or is it about the money? I'll be glad when I can color I cannot get with this halo of gray in the front. LOL

Also I wanted to let you all know to stay tuned for a new etsy store. My loctician is very talented and she will be selling her items soon on etsy. She makes jewelry, earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces & chokers. She also makes adornments for locs I will post a picture of my personal pieces soon.

Tonight I'm sitting doing what I always do watch tv and play or read blogs on my laptop and what do I see when I look up? It's an Aleve commercial and the woman in the commercial has what appears to be sisterlocks or microlocks! I didn't catch her name but she was from Jamaica, NY. We have DVR so I had to rewind it to make sure that's what I saw & sure enough her locks were beautiful and mature.
Has anybody else seen this commercial?

Trapped Wind?

This may be a bit personal but I just had to blog about it. Monday morning I woke up with a back ache so bad in my lower back where you bend that I could hardly get out of bed. The pain persisted for the entire week. I waited all the way until Thursday to decide to call the dr. Now it gets a little personal, it may be t.m.i. for some people.

I began to burp alot & as the burping continued the pain in my back started easing up. I began surfing the net about back pain & gas and came across an article about trapped wind. It was very informative about natural remedies to try to eleviate the pain. It mentioned fresh ginger or ginger tea, also peppermint tea. Well instead of calling the dr. I went to the health food store and purchased some ginger tea & some ginger that was cubed & coated with a little sugar. I asked the store clerk if she'd ever heard of such a thing and she told me that the chinese call it trapped wind and that they are very informative about the things that go on in the body & how to remedy them with natural herbs.

Well needless to say I took my purchases home & ate a few pieces of ginger & I drank the herbal tea before I went to bed. I woke up this morning and the pain went from my back but was in my left hip but it was less intense. I can say as the day progressed without being to gross that the wind is not trapped anymore. LOL

I know you're wondering, why did she write about this? I wrote about it because I've found that it's not a very popular thing & alot of people don't know about it. So if all of a sudden you have an unexplainable pain just consider that it may be trapped wind. LOL
Also I'm not one to take medicine so to learn that something like ginger can help your digestive system is information enough.

8 Weeks

It's my two month anniversary & I don't have any new pics to share! I've been so busy working overtime since we returned from the Virgin Islands that I really haven't had time. Plus working twelve hour days 3 to 4 days a week I'm not really feeling all that attractive. I will share what I've noticed with my hair though.

Some of my ends feel like they are matting & I have found several locks that have balls on the ends. I guess this means I'm entering into the next phase of this lock journey. It really is an exciting journey. My husband thinks I'm crazy. He asked me today why are you always online looking at hair?! LOL I told him I guess I'm possessed! ;-) Also I suppose I'm like all of the other bloggers who say they can't keep their hands out of their hair. I'm constantly playing in it.
Also my hair is also thickening up with the exception of one area in the top of my head. My loctician says it's alopecia. I'm keeping hope alive though, if the hair can come in at the edges where I've never had hair before surely it can grow back there. I hope to have new pics posted soon.

7 Weeks

This weekend I had an opportunity to do some experimenting with my hair. It's finally getting to a point where it's filling in nicely. Saturday we had an anniversary party to go to & my hair wasn't looking to full in the top so I attempted a mohawk updo. The pics don't really do it justice and neither does the setting of the pics since I took them in the bathroom. LOL Later that night I rolled my hair with the soft spikes for church because I wanted something different & this is what I got. This is not the greatest picture my daughter took it in the living room & it was not very bright in the room. After church I decided to check my mail & guess what was there, my hair tie from Amber Jaye! Thanks for sending my tie so soon I wasn't expecting it that fast. I tried it on & I'm happy to say that I'll be able to wear it. I didn't think my hair was thick enough to sport it yet but here I am yet again trying it on in the bathroom. Hopefully I can think of some nice way to style my hair & wear the tie. I'm waiting on Brunsli to start making her ties again too so I can purchase hers. I'm all about supporting our people! But for those of you who are like me & didn't have an opportunity to purchase one from Brunsli you can get yours from Amber.

We're Back!

We're back! We had a wonderful week in St. Thomas V.I. we relaxed by the pool most days, but we did do a few activities as you can see from the pics. We didn't do much shopping this year.

On Thursday we went on these underwater scooters! Did I tell you that I don't know how to swim? LOL I got up enough courage to get in the water & ride this thing. At first I was excited when I got in it. I couldn't believe that lil ol' me actually got up enough courage to do this. To explain a little about it, it's like riding a scooter underwater. Your head is in this bubble out of the water. They have oxygen going into the bubble. Well I have to tell you that after I got in there I kept trying to convince myself to get my breathing under control, all the while at the same time I'm excited because I can see sea turtles & all sorts of fish. Well it seems like the more I tried to convince myself to get my breathing under control the more I began to hyper ventilate! They teach you hand signal's to show if you're okay or not. Can I tell you I was waving my hand like a crazy fool to get me out of there! They lined us up to take pictures so I probably look like a rabid fool in the pictures. Stay tuned I'll be posting those at a later date.

The last day on the island we went to Coki Beach & hung out. Randy, Michael & Sandy snorkeled while I hung out on the beach. You can see I met a new friend on the beach she's a cutie isn't she? She's only 2 & she was quite a ham in front of the camera.

As for my hair I got it wet quite a bit & had to wash it a few times. It held up fine, no slippage yet! I would have liked to get more pics of my hair or myself for that matter but noone seemed to be able to work my camera, which is on my phone! LOL So I took a few of myself but you really can't see my hair that good because I really wasn't focusing on it.

Well it's good to be back home I just wish I didn't have to go back to work tomorrow!

How could I forget to mention this very nice night spot we went to called Havana Blue. The atmosphere was laid back, nice. The food was terrific. Randy & Michael sat & smoked cuban cigars. It was a great night, very expensive though.

What an experience. This morning while checking in at the ticket counter we were surprised to see that we had to pay for our bags. Ok we have no choice but to accept the fact that we have to pay $15 per bag! I had heard that you had to pay for additional bags after the first but to pay for your first bag? Then we board our plane & they come around with the "complimentary" beverages which aren't complimentary anymore! $2 for soda & water?! WTF!!!! I rode that plane all the way here hacking because I refused to pay $2 for a 16oz bottle of water!

Needless to say we arrived safely. St. Thomas is a beautiful place, so serene. Since I'm using my camera on my phone I won't be able to post pics until I get home. I refuse to pay 25 cents per text to upload pics so stay tuned!

Rainbow Margarita's

Oh my goodness!! Rainbow Margarita's are the bomb!!! Let me tell you why.
Yesterday evening my husband and I met my cousin and her beau at a Mexican Restaurant in Milwaukee called LaFuente's. The first thing my husband does before we're seated at our table is go order a pitcher of Rainbow Margarita's. I guess I should explain that I've had a cold for over a week that seems to come and go, and at this point I'm just coughing relentlessly all day and night! Well let me tell you I didn't cough a lick after having a glass and a half of this stuff! I think it's the perfect elixir for a cold! Did I mention that it's also delicious and potent!

Sandy if you're reading I want you to know that we really enjoyed last night. Earl is a really cool & funny guy. He absolutely knows how to be the life of the party! I think you should keep him too!

1st Retightening

Today I sat 3.5 hrs for my first retightening. It didn't take as long as I thought. As I was sitting there my loctician Janela was sharing her idea's with me. As we're talking she show's me the retightening tool that she created. Did I mention that she's very talented! She makes jewelry, scented shea butter, and she does braids & locs. She's in the process of building her website so she can sell her beautiful items to the whole world. She has allowed me to post a pic of her new tool. As for my hair it's coming along. I'm very thin in the top, unfortunately from years of use of the creamy crack! I'm looking forward to the day when it all fills in. I do understand that this is a journey that takes patience & understanding. It's also a learning process that I'm willing to be a student of.

Our small city of 85,000 has been making headlines! One of our own Mrs. Julia Burney-Witherspoon was featured on ABC new's person of the week on Friday the 26th, and now our city will be featured once again on ABC news on Oct 9th. Racine will be one of the stops for ABC news 50 city's in 50 days tour for the election. Charlie Gibson will be doing his newscast from the Johnson Building in downtown Racine!

I was going to start a blog about my hair journey like thousands of others, but for some reason I can't seem to get started. I think it's more fun lurking around other peoples blogs than actually writing in my own. I plan to start soon though. I am into my fourth week of being loc'd & I'm noticing my hair thickening up. This is a good thing because I thought I looked like a wet cat! LOL I find myself being a little impatient waiting for them to mature, but I know it will be worth the wait.

Hopefully I will be posting photo's soon. I'm not quite computer literate in that department but we'll see how it goes.
